Change

Emma Mullins Crocker

Taking the first steps with therapy can feel a little overwhelming, if you have questions that are not listed below, please feel free to email me to ask.

During the first session (assessment session) we will explore what brings you to therapy, discuss what you're hoping to explore and what life will look like for you when you have achieved what you're hoping to achieve. I don't offer a set number of sessions as it is hard to know exactly how long it will take to reach your goals. I work openly with my clients towards ending therapy and I do not encourage clients to stay in therapy longer than they need or want to.

Sessions can vary in time from 50 minute to 3 hours depending on what we agree is the best approach. Short term therapy would usually be anywhere from 4-12 sessions, medium-12- 20 sessions or longer-term-ongoing without a planned ending. All would be discussed openly as we work together.

FAQ’s

How many sessions will I need?

There are no set number of sessions as this varies on what the person. It is something we can discuss throughout and plan for.

What will we talk about?

We will talk about the past, present and future. It all depends on what you want to get out of therapy and where the exploration goes.

How do I pay?

Through online banking.

How will I know when I'm done?

This is something we explore in the early stages of therapy but essentially it is part of the change process that you will just feel it (without sounding cliché).

Can I stop and then come back?

I work in a client centred and open way and explore this option as some people want to take a break for a short while, others have check in sessions as and when they feel they need (much like with a dentist or Dr), this all depends on the client and what we work together on.

I want couples therapy, but my partner isn’t sure, what can I do?

It is common that one person in a partnership isn’t sure about engaging in therapy, it is important that they know they can come for the initial assessment session before deciding if they want to do it. You have time after that session to decide if you want to attend future sessions

"Having had various therapists and counsellors in the past I can safely say there is no one like Emma. I have worked with her for a couple of years and the improvement within myself is more than I ever thought was possible.

She is incredibly approachable, non judgemental and honest. She definitely considers the individual and is so quick to understand you and your specific needs.

Needless to say I thoroughly recommend Emma!"

I can’t express how much Emma has helped me on and off over the past 3 years. I was experiencing a bereavement in my family going back to 15 years ago and over a course of 8 months I felt like a different person, I like that I can have one off sessions if I feel I just need to check in.

I couldn’t recommend going to Emma enough, I give all my friends and family her information if they to need to reach out to somebody.
